Job Purpose:

The IIE's Varsity College Sandton Campus has a vacancy for a : Junior Lecturer - School of Education

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative Support to the Campus Academic Team:

€¢ Responsible for the day-to-day administrative support to the permanent Academic team of the relevant School/s and Programmes.
€¢ Compile, manage and distribute academic reports as required by the School/s (i.e. SAM, KITSO & RTS etc.).
€¢ Capture student notes in SAM as and when required.
€¢ Provide support during academic orientation. This includes programme information presentations, academic policies, outlines of the year etc.
€¢ Attend Academic meetings.
€¢ Involvement in campus PULSE and Groups Internal Audits.
€¢ Provide administrative support, including calling, for Student Retention initiatives.
€¢ Involvement in academic support and administrative duties during the campus registration period.
€¢ Support the Vice Principal - Academic (VPA) with SETS requirements.

Independent Contractor (Lecturer) Administrative Management:

€¢ Responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of the campus Lecturing team within the relevant School/s.
€¢ Collaborate with the relevant parties (VPA, Programme Managers and HR) to advertise campus Independent Contractor (IC) vacancies.
€¢ First line screening of applications.
€¢ Setting up of interviews.
€¢ Attend mock lectures where required as part of the candidate screening process.
€¢ Responsible for completing the screening documentation requirements for all shortlisted candidates (i.e. references & academic approvals).
€¢ Collaborate with campus HR to follow and complete the final recruitment steps including gathering all required payroll documentation.
€¢ Ensure that lecturers are approved by CAT and that all payroll requirements are met in collaboration with campus HR prior to receiving their Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) and/or Annexures.
€¢ Draft ICA's and annexures for timeous handover to campus HR for processing in APS.
€¢ Ensure that all new Lecturers are invited to attend the semester Induction and Orientation sessions as part of their onboarding process.
€¢ Liaise with the campus ICT department to ensure that all new Lecturers receive the relevant access rights and IT set up (VCConnect email address, VCLearn login details, photocopy code, biometrics etc.).
€¢ Update the campus tracker to identify Lecturer gaps and work with the Campus VPA to put recruitment plans in place to fill the identified gaps accordingly.
€¢ Manage the processing of Lecturer Timesheets in APS as part of the campus IC Timesheet Project team. Collaborate with the campus Timetabling Centre to fulfil this function and ensure that the relevant approvers process their approvals and checks timeously in APS on a monthly basis in accordance with the payroll deadlines.

Research & Scholarship:

€¢ The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards The IIE€™s Varsity College achieving its annual research output targets.

Lecturing:

€¢ Must teach at least 1 undergrad module per semester.

Education:

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Postgraduate qualification / Bachelor Honours Degree (NQF Level 8), or in the process of completing a Postgraduate qualification / Bachelor Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) at an External Institution. Willingness to study towards Master€™s for developmental opportunities.

Work Experience:

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience not required as a Minimum. One year of administrative and/or customer service and/or tutoring experience ideal.
