Job Purpose:

Varsity College, an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Ltd, is a registered private higher education institution.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
€¢ Member of senior management team on site 
€¢ Managing the provisions of quality education delivery and integrated student support on site aligned with the policies and procedures of the Independent Institute of Education
€¢ Responsible for "forging the link" between these support portfolio's and Operations to promote and manage integrated student support for student success on site
€¢ Responsible for the academic support team consisting of the Academic Development Co-ordinators, Full Time Lecturers, Librarian and Assistant Librarian, the Student Relations Manager & Co-ordinator and IC lecturing team
€¢ Responsible for the management of Student Tracking and proactively ensuring effective support interventions are put in place to improve student results and success rates
€¢ Recruiting of the €œstrongest€ academic & teaching staff and lecturers in liaison with the VP Ops
€¢ Championing the culture of academic capacity building, data analysis, research, learning technologies and the scholarship of teaching on site to drive improvements in the level of Teaching and Learning within Varsity College
€¢ Championing the culture of citizenship, social responsibility and empowerment through community engagement and experiential learning to ensure holistic aspect of teaching and learning
€¢ Championing the development of information-, academic-, numeracy-, and reading & writing literacy on site to particularly support first year cohort of students with transition from school into higher education
€¢ Liaising and communicating with academic stakeholders at all levels and responding to their needs
€¢ General management duties

  • A relevant and accredited degree, preferably at post graduate level.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant Teaching and Learning experience. Experience within a tertiary education environment preferable.
